About the Role

We’re looking for a passionate and skilled Construction Multi‑Skills Tutor to join our on‑site education team at HMP Brixton.
In this rewarding role, you’ll deliver high‑quality, engaging vocational training to small groups of learners—many of whom may have had limited prior access to education.

You’ll help learners build essential construction knowledge, develop hands‑on skills, grow confidence, and move towards employment on release. You will plan training programmes, track progress, and provide meaningful advice and guidance to support long‑term rehabilitation and personal development.

This is a role where you can change lives every day.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Delivering vocational training across a variety of construction disciplines.
  • Motivating, inspiring, and engaging learners with diverse needs and backgrounds.
  • Creating individual training plans and monitoring learner progress.
  • Providing advice, guidance, and progression support.
  • Ensuring safe working practices and high standards of classroom delivery.

What We’re Looking For

  • Level 3 qualification in a construction‑related trade (e.g., carpentry, bricklaying, plumbing, plastering, multi‑trades).
  • Strong vocational experience in your trade(s).
  • Experience delivering vocational training or mentoring.
  • Teaching/assessing qualification desirable (PTLLS, DTLLS, A1, A2, CAVA) — but not essential.
  • A proactive, learner‑centred approach using varied training methods.
  • Willingness to complete a teaching or assessing qualification during probation if not already held.

Why You’ll Want This Role

  • Be part of the largest independent provider of prison education in England and the sole provider in Scotland.
  • Work within a national education framework delivering over 2 million learning hours each year.
  • Play a key role in offender rehabilitation and positive behaviour change.
  • Access structured induction, CPD and professional development via the Justice Training Academy.
  • Receive London Weighting on top of base salary.
  • Join a values‑driven, supportive organisation focused on improving lives through education.

Additional Benefits

  • Support to gain a teaching or assessing qualification during probation.
  • Continuous training and professional development opportunities.
  • A collaborative, mission‑driven working environment.
